Spring Kick Off! April 8th Event!
Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Event April 8th
We have made it through another wild wonderful winter here in Michigan!
Spring time brings Spring Cleaning, reorganizing and projects around the house for many of us. As we are purging our cabinets, basements, garages, and barns, let’s dispose of the household hazardous waste (HHW) properly. You can recycle HHW in two different ways. You can drop the HHW off at one of our two locations or attend the HHW recycling event in your community. ERG works with RRRASOC which stands for The Resource Recovery and Recycling Authority of Southwest Oakland County (RRRASOC). The Resource Recovery and Recycling Authority of Southwest Oakland County (RRRASOC) is an intergovernmental, municipal solid waste authority created in 1989. Their purpose is establishing and operating solid waste management projects that feature intergovernmental cooperation, economies of scale and a combination of environmental responsibility and fiscal soundness.
Our first RRRASOC HHW event of the 2017 recycling season is coming up on April 8th !
RRRASOC helps its member communities with cost-effective, environmentally responsible, and convenient waste and recycling programs, including recycling drop-off centers, household hazardous waste collection events and curbside pick-up collection. RRRASOC maintains a tradition of providing innovative and cost-effective services through cooperation and public/private partnerships, developing award-winning solid waste programs and improving services while controlling costs.
RRRASOC member communities include Farmington, Farmington Hills, Milford, Milford Township, Novi, South Lyon, Southfield, Walled Lake and Wixom. ERG Environmental Services is a proud partner with RRRASOC. We work together on RRRASOC HHW recycling community events.

What is HHW?
WANT TO KNOW WHAT TO BRING? (Click on the blue link for the accepted items list, transportation tips, do’s & don’ts)
Household Hazardous Waste includes a variety of everyday household items, such as cleaners, paints, herbicides, insecticides, and solvents that exhibit the characteristics of regulated hazardous waste. Regulated hazardous waste means items that are flammable, combustible, corrosive, reactive or toxic and would be harmful to the environment if thrown into the trash which goes to a regular landfill.
HHW isn’t considered waste until you need to dispose of the items. If you are unsure if an item is hazardous, check the products label. Warnings such as “poison or toxic”, “flammable or ignitable”, “corrosive” indicate a HHW item. Cleaners that contain strong acids, bleach or ammonia are also hazardous.
What To Do
Residents of RRRASOC Member Communities may bring household hazardous waste to household hazardous waste collection events. Those events provide residents with an opportunity to safely discard or recycle hazardous items, including electronic waste (which is commonly called E-Waste). If you are a resident of one of the RRRASOC member communities and are unable to attend any of the RRRASOC recycling events, you may drop of your HHW at ERG.
